Fossil Friday #288: Danville Roachoid Wing

This is the “Fossil Friday” post #288.  Expect this to be a regular feature of the website.  We will post fossil pictures you send in to esconi.info@gmail.com.  Please include a short description or story.  Check the #FossilFriday Bluesky/Twitter hash tag for contributions from around the world!

Andrew Young sent us photos of a beautiful Roachoid wing from one of our Danville field trips in 2024. It opened late this spring (2025) after about 30 cycles. Danville concretions are hard and can take a long time top open.

We are slowly adding animals to the list of fossils from this locality, as this represents at least the second insect fossil found.

Thanks for sharing, Andrew!
