Fossil Friday #175: Calymene from Naperville

This is the “Fossil Friday” post #175.  Expect this to be a somewhat regular feature of the website.  We will post any fossil pictures you send in to esconi.info@gmail.com.  Please include a short description or story.  Check the #FossilFriday Twitter hash tag for contributions from around the world!

We received another Fossil Friday contribution from Caden McDonald a few days ago.  This time he send us some very nice trilobite photos.  He found these in a park in Naperville, IL, which is a typical suburb about 35 miles west of Chicago. These are Calymene celebra trilobites from the Silurian Period, which is the state fossil of Wisconsin.

Previously, Caden sent us a sweet little Annularia sphenophylloides (Fossil Friday #166).  He displayed it and other Mazon Creek fossils at the CGMA show back in late May 2023.

Thanks for the contribution, Caden!
