Fossil Friday #52: Fossil Wood

This is the “Fossil Friday” post #52.  Expect this to be a somewhat regular feature of the website.  We will post any fossil pictures you send in to esconi.info@gmail.com.  Please include a short description or story.  Check the #FossilFriday Twitter hash tag for contributions from around the world!

Fossil wood can be very different from what is found in modern plants.  Lepidodenron and other distinctive wood can be common in some of the Mazon Creek localities.  Today, we have a couple interesting wood specimens from ESCONI member Andy Jansen.  Andy also serves as Librarian and Treasurer of ESCONI.  These were collected in the area of Pit 2.  Thanks for the awesome contributions, Andy!
