We hope you’ll come out to “Brag Night” this Saturday, September 19th, 2026! We are sure there will be some very nice treasures to see!

“Brag Night” on the first meeting after summer vacation has been an ESCONI tradition for a long time. The first one seems to be 1952. Here is the announcement.

SEPTEMBER 12th “BRAG” NIGHT

Here is your chance to show us what you brought back from your vacation and summer trips, and to see what others got Everyone is invited and URGED to bring and display their “loot”, and to tellus of their experiences. (We expect the truth of course, and not magnified more than 10%).

Mesdames Whitney and Bish will collaborate on a report of the combined conventions of the American and Rocky Mountain Foderations that was held at Canon City, Colorado. Mrs. W. D. Kelly, aided and abetted by Bill, will report on the Midwest Federation Convention held at St. Paul, Minnesota.

Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Schnizlein will tell of their experiences this summer in Mexico, and others will tell of their trips to other parts of the continent.
Don’t miss this meeting

The old newsletters didn’t have images, so people made drawings. If you look back, they really did it well in the 1960’s. This one kicks it off in 1960 with a couple small drawings.

BRAG NITE
SEPTEMBER 9, 1960

“BRAG NITE” is the universal first meeting of the year for Earth Science clubs. Therefore, ESCONI is following tradition because it is a good one.

Friday night, September 9, at the Washington School, Downers Grove, 8 P.M., will be the first meeting of our 1960-1961 season. The speaker will be YOU ESCONI members! Bring your new specimens and BRAG about them! (Don’t get a chance like this very often! ed) There will be tables for your use.

New features for BRAG NITE are being added this year.

1. Projectionist Jay Farr will have our slide projector set up. He will show your Bragging slides. If at all possible please let him know in advance that you will have slides. His telephone number is Downers Grove – WO 9-1242.
2. Our Lapidary group and our Paleontology group will have displays Bragging of what they have done during the year.

This will be an indoor Field trip! With previews of what will be available at our AUCTION the following month.

(This is an opportunity for you to find out what your friends REALLY did this summer!)
