Fossil Friday #326: Rhacophyllum cornutum from the Mazon River

This is the “Fossil Friday” post #326. Expect this to be a regular feature of the website. We will post fossil pictures you send in to esconi.info@gmail.com. Please include a short description or story. Check the #FossilFriday Bluesky/Twitter hash tag for contributions from around the world!

This is a very beautiful Rhacophyllum cornutum (see Mazon Monday #266) from the Mazon River. Lil Magnusson showed me this stunner at the spring 2026 Danville field trip. Lil turned 85 this year and is a long-time ESCONI member… She joined in the 1960’s and rarely misses our Braceville and Danville field trips.

Here she is volunteering with Chris Cozart at the 2025 ESCONI Gem, Mineral, and Fossil Show.

And, here again at the 2025 CGMA show.

Thanks for sharing this beautiful fossil, Lil!
