On Saturday, October 15th, 2016, the ESCONI Paleo Study Group held the 2nd Annual “Best Fossil Contest”. There were three categories, vertebrates, invertebrates, and plants.
The winners in the vertebrate category were:
- Keith Robitschek (Edmontosaurus Vertebrae)
- Thomas Williams (Thescelosaurus Rib)
- David Bergmann (Mioplosus)

The winners in the invertebrate category were:
- Tony Bellos (Elrathia kingi)
- John Catalani (Endoceras/Macroscenella superba)
- Keith Robitschek (Camerate Crinoid)

The winners in the plant category were:
- Thomas Williams (Annularia stellata)
- Joan Bledig (Crenulopteris accadica)
- Rich Holm (Macroneuropteris macrophylla)
