“Go on… Introduce yourself, tiny frog.” 👋🐸

This unexpected meet-and-greet happened decades ago when our former taxidermist and model maker Leon Walters introduced a frog to his Giant Goliath frog model.

It may look like the real deal, but this celluloid recreation never hopped nor croaked. It was actually created using a groundbreaking technique called the Walters Method.

Unlike traditional taxidermy, Walters created his incredibly lifelike models by layering colored cellulose nitrate over molds made from real specimens.

This technique allowed Walters to create incredibly lifelike models that capture the subtle colors, patterns, and textures of real-life animals.
