Throwback Thursday #276: A Visit With Sheila Bergman

This is Throwback Thursday #276. In these, we look back into the past at ESCONI specifically and Earth Science in general. If you have any contributions, (science, pictures, stories, etc …), please send them to esconi.info@gmail.com. Thanks! email:esconi.info@gmail.com.

Around Memorial Day, a few of us (Rich Holm, Jeremy Zimmerman, and Ralph Jewell) visited Sheila Bergmann. We checked out some of her fossils and minerals and told stories of the old ESCONI days when she and Dave were active in the club.  Both Sheila and Dave are Honorary Members in ESCONI.  They received that honor in 2009.  Sheila told us a bunch of stories including Dave’s swan dive in a quarry, collecting garnets in South Dakota, and trips to Chowder Flats to collect Mazon Creek fossils.

This is Sheila in the yellow boots at Chowder Flats in 1994 (see Throwback Thursday #187).

Here’s a photo of  Sheila in 2001.

Here are a few of photos of Dave.  The first one is in Canada collecting Ordovician fossils, in the the second he’s splitting Green River shale in Wyoming, and in the last he’s on the 1994 Chowder Flats field trip in 1994 (see Throwback Thursday #187).
