Jim Holstein, Field Museum of Natural History, will speak on, “THE END OF THE WORLD IS COMING! OR NOT”

Geologist Jim Holstein from the Field Museum will discuss the science of meteorite impact craters.  There are about 170 know impact craters on Earth which is contrasted to the thousands found on other planetary bodies.  He will discuss the mechanics, distribution and dating of terrestrial craters as well as PHAs (Potentially Hazardous Asteroids) that pose a potential risk to life on Earth.
