English Geology Book

Some of our members travel to England and other countries as part of their study of paleontology, geology and the other earth sciences…  so when I saw this book review, I thought it would be of interest:

Review of A Walkers’ Guide to the Geology of British Mountains’ from Outdoorsmagic.com,

“… it’s a large-format, 208- page, copiously-illustrated paperback that trawls through British mountain rocks from the Gneiss of the Outer Hebrides to the Gabbro of Skye via everything in between from Welsh slate to Torridonian sandstone.

The great thing about it is that because the author is a committed and experienced walker, the whole book is slanted towards the mountain goer. So the section about Torridon begins by talking about the experience of walking across the Torridonian giants in different conditions, then moves on to discuss the detail of the rock and what that means…”
